Gluten Free Fish Tacos with Mango Salsa

Gluten Free Fish Tacos with Mango Salsa is the perfect summer time pan fried fish taco recipe. The sweet mango salsa makes the perfect topping. I also love to throw some coleslaw on top to give it a fresh crisp! These easy healthy fish tacos will soon become a weeknight staple.

Fish tacos are one of our favorites. Everyone in our family is big on seafood. When the kids were little, they didn’t love the idea of fish in a taco, so I would just give them the fried fish pieces and they were perfectly content with that. 
 
When I make these I will switch up the toppings just depending on what we have on hand, but I love  these gluten free fish tacos with mango salsa. I will also top these pan fried fish tacos with a spicy mayo and freshly chopped cabbage or coleslaw.

Fish tacos originated in Baja, Mexico. Having lived in California for most of my life, they are a normal staple around here. 

However, finding them gluten free is the true challenge since they are typically battered and fried. 

Ingredients needed to make Easy Healthy Fish Tacos

Ingredients needed to make easy healthy fish tacos
  • Gluten Free Flour, or a gluten free starch such as: Tapioca Starch, Arrowroot Starch, Potato Starch or Corn Starch.
  • Firm White Fish: My favorite to use is Cod, but Tilapia will work too. To save money I buy frozen fish from Trader Joes that is already in pieces. It’s half the price and saves me time because I don’t have to cut them!
  • Oil to Fry: I like avocado or coconut, but you can use your favorite frying oil. 
  • Mango Salsa Ingredients: Mango, Tomato, Onion, Cilantro, Salt and Pepper.
  • Spicy Mayo Ingredients: Mayo, Hot Sauce, Dairy Free Milk, Red Pepper Flakes, Salt, Pepper, Granulated Garlic.
  • Fresh Cabbage or Coleslaw if you desire.
  • Your favorite Gluten Free Tortillas: I use corn for most of us and Siete for my son who has a corn allergy. 

How to make Pan Fried Fish Tacos

Start by making the spicy mayo sauce 1 hour ahead of time by adding all of the ingredients into a bowl and mixing well. Refrigerate.

How to make pan fried fish tacos. Step 1, toss the fish in your flour or starch and coat it thoroughly.

Pour the flour in a shallow bowl. Heat the coconut oil in a skillet.

Coat both sides of the fish well in the flour mixture and then put in the skillet and cook about 4 minutes on each side.

Place on a plate lined with paper towels.

Make the mango salsa by dicing all of the ingredients and adding all of the ingredients to a bowl and stirring together.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. of your favorite fish cut in pieces
  • 1 Cup White Rice Flour
  • ½ Cup Coconut Oil

Tortillas

Mango Salsa

  • 1 Onion diced
  • 1 Mango diced
  • 2 TBSP. Cilantro chopped
  • 1 Tomato diced
  • Salt and Pepper to Taste

Spicy Mayo Sauce

  • 3 TBSP. Mayo
  • A few shakes of hot sauce I used about 3-4
  • 1 TBSP. DF Milk
  • Dash of Crushed Red Pepper
  • ¼ tsp. Salt
  • ¼ tsp. Pepper
  • ¼ tsp. Granulated Garlic

Garnish

  • Shredded Cabbage

Instructions
