Easy Chocolate Dairy Free Frosting (Vegan)

This Easy Chocolate Dairy Free Frosting AKA Vegan Chocolate Buttercream is the perfect rich, creamy and fluffy frosting to top all of of gluten free cakes and sweet treats!

This Chocolate Dairy Free Frosting has been something that I’ve been making for years. With the dairy free options available now, it is so much easier to make all of your favorite treats gluten and dairy free!

Ingredients needed to make Chocolate Dairy Free Frosting…

ingredients needed to make dairy free chocolate frosting: vegan butter, vegetable shortening, vanilla. cocoa powder, dairy free milk.

Vegan Butter: Earth’s Balance is my favorite, but I’ve used many kinds and they all work amazingly.

Vegetable Shortening: Spectrum Shortening is my go-to, but I have used good ‘ol Crisco when I couldn’t get any.

Dairy Free Milk: Coconut is my favorite, but almond, cashew, oat, they all work great!

Directions for making Vegan Chocolate Buttercream:

In your stand mixer cream the butter and shortening

In your stand mixer cream the butter and shortening

Add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, beat for 1 minute and med/low speed

Add the vanilla and milk

Continue to blend for 3 or so minutes with the speed on high, scrapping the sides halfway. The frosting is done when it's light, fluffy and there are no clumps.

  • Frost your desired cake and enjoy!

Notes

Once your cake or dessert is frosting, store in the fridge and take out 30 minutes prior to soften.ย 
I don’t recommend freezing the frosting because it can separate when it thaws.ย
