Vegan S’mores Dip

Growing up I didn’t go camping much and there wasn’t a lot of bonfire scenarios. However, I still loved a good s’more and my memories of them mostly consist of me roasting a marshmallow over my gas stove and building a s’more on the kitchen counter.

You will always find all of the ingredients to build s’mores in our pantry. Having to avoid gluten, dairy, corn, and some nuts makes gathering these ingredients more difficult at times, but I have definitely found how to avoid our intolerance’s and allow us to all enjoy a good s’more.

What is a s’mores dip?

I am sure you have been seeing these yummy looking concoctions on social media and pinterest. That is where I first saw one! Immediately I knew how I could throw this together quickly and easily make it gluten free and vegan with my favorite Enjoy Life Mini Chips and Dandies Marshmallows, but I used Vanilla Smash Mallow marshmallows for these photos. While Smash Mallow isn’t certified vegan, we like the ingredients.

This dip consists of 3 simple ingredients- Coconut Oil, Chocolate Chips, and Marshmallows. That’s really all you need. Some recipes circulating the internet have more ingredients and are a little more complex, but its totally unnecessary. The best part too is that if you use the Enjoy Life chips and Smash Mallow brand you can keep this gluten free and vegan.

You might think, why wouldn’t this be vegan? Surprisingly some marshmallows are not considered vegan because of the ingredients. So, if you need a vegan option make sure you look out for that.

One of the places I like to get all of the ingredients for this recipe is Thrive Market. We have been loving our subscription because you can get all of the ingredients and snacks, plus so much more delivered to your door. We don’t live close to a Whole Foods, so this has been amazing. Plus, the prices are excellent. You can click HERE to check out Thrive.

Of course graham crackers are the go-to for dipping, but remember you can dip ANYTHING into this. Strawberries and bananas are an excellent option!

Over the years we have tried every gluten free graham cracker we could get our hands on. In the beginning of our gluten free journey there was only one brand I could find in the store, so I even made them homemade a few times. Luckily, the gluten free options have come a long way and there are many brands to choose from.

Here I will share with you our favorites and go-to graham cracker options…

Kinnikinnick is the one graham all of us can eat. They hold up well and taste good.

Schar Grahams have the most authentic graham flavor that is gluten and dairy free. They do contain corn, so my son can’t eat these. They can crumble easy, so be careful.

Pamela’s grahams are really, really good, but they contain dairy.

How do I make this gluten free s’mores dip?

S'mores dip in a pan on a table with graham crackers on a plate

  1. Start by turning your oven on low broil.
  2. Add the coconut oil to a small baking dish and place it in the oven. Allow it to melt and remove from the oven.
  3. Pour in the chocolate chips and stir them to combine with the coconut oil. Place the pan back in the oven to allow the chocolate chips to melt, this should take about a minute.
  4. Remove from the oven and stir it up until its smooth. Place all of the marshmallows on top of the chocolate and place the dish back in the oven.
  5. Watch carefully and move the dish as needed so you do not burn the marshmallows. This will be fast, usually about a minute until they are toasted.
  6. Remove from oven and allow to sit for a few minutes to cool off. Dip your favorite graham crackers or fruit and enjoy.

We have loved this recipe all summer long. I make it often and its always a huge hit in my family. Feel free to serve it on plates too if you have double dippers in the house. Enjoy!
