Paleo Pecan Pie

It is that time of year and I am baking pies like nobody’s business. For me that means I need a killer paleo pecan pie recipe. So, I knew I needed a paleo pecan pie with a grain free option for all of my pies this year. I wanted healthy pecan pie because this time of year I need to enjoy my food and not feel bad about it. You feel me?

Traditional pecan pie is made with corn syrup. This is how I have always made it. Easy peasy. Pecan pie in general is a pretty simple pie to make. However, my son has a mild corn allergy that we are in the process of getting under control, so this was a big no no.

The way my mind works is if I am taking out the corn syrup, then I’m going all out and making this recipe paleo with a grain free option. I know in general I love eating paleo and a lot of you do too! My grain free and paleo recipes have been performing really well and you keep asking for more.

I created the Paleo Pie Crust for this and you can use this crust for ANYTHING. OMG you are going to love it, so make sure to save this recipe. If you don’t care about the crust being paleo, I have a gluten free and vegan pie crust recipe too.

The next step was figuring out the filling. How does one replace corn syrup? Well, how about an extra egg and maple syrup… Yes, oh yes. It worked like a charm. You can make this pie 2 ways, grain free or paleo.

For the paleo version you just use coconut sugar and ghee. For the grain free version, use brown sugar and regular butter (or vegan butter). Whatever works for you.

How do I make this Healthy Pecan Pie?

It’s sooooo easy! First you will need your pie crust. Then you preheat the oven to 350ºF. In a bowl add the coconut sugar, ghee, eggs, vanilla, salt, cinnamon, and maple syrup. Mix for about 3 minutes on medium speed. Add most of the pecans to the bottom of the pie crust and then pour the mixture from the bowl on top. Add the rest of the pecans on top (you can get fancy with this if you want).

Process ShotsBake at 350ºF for about 50 minutes or until the filling is set and a toothpick comes out clean.

If you don’t want this to be paleo you can simply swap the coconut sugar for brown sugar and the ghee for butter or vegan butter. You are going to love this! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Pecan Halves
  • 1 Cup Coconut Sugar or Brown Sugar (grain free option)
