Summertime is in full swing and that means it’s time to have friends over, enjoy some light snacks, and toast with my favorite Prosecco to celebrate National Prosecco Day. In this blog post, I am going to tell you how to host an easy summertime happy hour, that you can put together in a breeze. I will also tell you all about my favorite Prosecco to pair with snacks and celebrate my favorite summertime holiday.

Celebrate National Prosecco Day

You don’t have to spend a lot of time preparing for a happy hour. I like to plan out what I will serve on my charcuterie board 3-4 days in advance and then shop for it several days ahead. It is as simple as pulling it all out about 30 minutes ahead of time and building the board. I think what you serve creates more memories than how you serve it.

When I want to create a memorable atmosphere, I choose my favorite wine brand, that has amazing flavors РSanta Margherita wines. The Pinot Grigio was introduced by back in 1979. They were also pioneering in the Prosecco Superiore category, and have a Sparkling Ros̩ and Chianti Classico Riserva as part of the portfolio, as well. The Prosecco Superiore comes from Glera grapes grown in Valdobbiadene, a town synonymous with the finest Prosecco Superiore and DOCG status. The aromatic and lively Prosecco Superiore is the perfect vibrant wine to serve at happy hour or gift to a friend.

When I choose a wine, I look for a traditional brand that is approachable yet high quality. I want a brand that is known for their flavors and values. Santa Margherita always provides that, so when I plan a happy hour with my best friends or, I want to celebrate National Prosecco Day, it makes sense to have their Prosecco Superiore take the spotlight. How to host an easy summertime happy hour to celebrate National Prosecco Day…

1. Grab 3 or more bottles of Santa Margherita Prosecco Superiore from your local grocery store. I shopped at Kroger, but you can also find it at your local grocery, drug or supercenter stores.
2. Make a list of what you want on your charcuterie board. I recommend two types of crackers, two types of meats like salami and prosciutto, two fruits, and two nuts. This gives your board a well-rounded feel with a little bit of carbs, lots of protein, and sweet fruits that pair perfectly. Here is what I put on my board… two types of gluten free crackers, herbed goat cheese, brie, cashews, pistachios, salami, prosciutto, dried cherries, and pears.
3. Have your glasses ready and bottles chilled. Pull everything out about a half hour before everyone arrives and begin to build your charcuterie board. The great thing about summer is that you can just take everything outside and have a great time!
Quick tip: did you know that serving Prosecco in a wine glass instead of a flute allows the aromas and flavors of the wine to express themselves better? Keep that in mind for your next get-together.

4. Put out the food and drinks and have a blast!

Hosting a simple summertime happy hour is easy and always a good time. All you need is good wine and good friends to have a great time. I simply cannot think of a better way to celebrate National Prosecco Day!
