Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal is one of my favorite oatmeal flavor combinations.  This vegan oatmeal recipe is also gluten free and in this post I will answer the question, “Is Oatmeal Gluten Free?” This instant pot oatmeal recipe will quickly become a family favorite and go-to because of how simple, hearty, healthy, and delicious this recipe is.

Oatmeal is just one of those comfort foods that I really loved eating growing up. The warm bowl along with a slice of toast was something I truly enjoyed.

Now as an adult I am always looking for new flavorful and healthy ways to feed my family. Easy and fast is also important and that is why I love this instant pot oatmeal recipe.

Fall and winter months are a fun time to enjoy this recipe, but it is truly a favorite all year long. The beauty of this is simply slicing up the apples and throwing it all in the pot, then getting your chores done, or getting the kids ready for school.

Is oatmeal gluten free?

Regular oatmeal is not gluten free. There is contamination issues on how oats are typically grown right next to wheat. In order to be safe you must always use certified gluten free oats. Often with celiac disease there are other food tolerance issues. Oats, dairy and corn are some of the top culprits. We are fortunate to be able to tolerate gluten free oats.

What will I need to make this apple cinnamon oatmeal?

  • Gluten Free Oats
  • Salt
  • Apples (I prefer Gala or Pink Lady)
  • Brown Sugar
  • Cinnamon and Nutmeg
  • Coconut Milk or any Nut Milk will do

You can use any pressure cooker for this recipe, but I love my Crock Pot 8qt Multi Pot for all of my recipes.

How do I make this vegan oatmeal recipe?

Simply add all of the ingredients into your Instant Pot and stir to blend well. Cook on high pressure for 10 minutes and then allow the steam to manually release for 10 minutes. Release any remaining steam and serve with your favorite toppings.

If you are not dairy free feel free to use a whole milk in place of the coconut milk. A thick nut or oat milk will work as well.
