Super Smoothie- Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Nut Free Kid Approved

by Living Freely Gluten Free

Smoothies really are an excellent way to sneak in all of the raw vitamins that we need. I love these for the kids because they enjoy making them with me and they also love drinking them.

I know that when they have these they are getting everything their body needs to grow and be nourished. They are excellent as a snack, frozen into popsicle molds, or for a fast breakfast.

You can’t go wrong with them and you can customize the flavors by using your favorite berries or whatever is in season. You can also use any super green other than spinach, kale is an excellent option.

If you want to change the color to not be green, beets and blackberries are great for darkening it up. My kids love the green color though because it is green like Hulk and it will make you strong like him too.

Adding the oats insures they are getting some whole grain. The flax provides fiber, minerals, antioxidants and monounsaturated fatty acids.

The Bananas provide B vitamins, vitamin C, potassium, biotin and dietary fiber.

The spinach adds B vitamins, calcium and potassium.

Coconut milk is thick and dairy free and provides a healthy liquid. A splash of OJ gives it a little extra flavor.

Of course, whatever berry you choose will be perfect and delicious.

Dress the thick and creamy smoothie up with any toppings you like. Fresh berries, banana’s or coconut would be delicious.

I like to freeze my berries so that they last longer and it also helps to ice up the smoothie. If your berries are fresh you can add a handful of ice to the blender if you would like.

Feel free to pour these in popsicle molds and give them to your kids as a healthy snack on a warm day.

You can never go wrong with smoothies and to make them simple you can prep the fruit and greens and bag them in baggies and store in the freezer.

I hope you enjoy this smoothie recipe as much as we do. It’s the perfect breakfast on a warm summer morning to get you going in a healthy and delicious way.
