I pop our own popcorn for many reasons. First being that is so much healthier for you and second, it is so much more inexpensive!
I try to always buy my corn products organic in order to avoid GMO’s. Organic popping corn is very reasonable this bag is $1.99 at Trader Joes. Amazon sells some as well if you don’t have a Trader Joes. (I’ll provide the link for my favorite)
My son loves watching the corn pop. He loves how they change color and when you make it yourself and control the ingredients it’s also a healthy snack.
We pop ours on the stove using the ratio on the back of the bag:
1/2 cup kernels
3 Tbsp. oil (Avocado and Coconut are best)
Then I lightly season it with pink Himalayan sea salt and garlic powder.
This healthy snack proves to be very cost effective. Make these snack bags and use them for car rides, lunch boxes or just handy snacks. My Husband likes to take them to work.
When you buy a bag for $1.99 you can make about 11 or so batches of popcorn (if you follow the 1/2 cup of kernels recipe) you can make 4 sandwich sized snack bags (per 1/2 cup of uncooked kernels) or 8 snack size bags.
11×4=44 1.99/44= .04 per snack bag
