I know, I know… it’s been a while and I’m sorry! My last Jennifer’s Journal was back in June when I was still in Washington state. So much has happened in the last 4 months and life has been so crazy busy. I started a journal entry a couple times to never finish it.
The truth is, they don’t get read much and I have been trying to concentrate on things that can bring me page views because my friends- this blogging occupation is a beast and I feel like I’m hitting my head up against a wall over and over.
I set a goal at the beginning of this year because I had reached a point where I had to give myself a timeline of accomplishments that had to met in order to keep blogging. My list of to-do’s is a mile long and I had to prioritize.
October Jennifer’s Journal Entry
Since my last journal entry my website has been completely redone. I had some help and got it more user friendly, faster, and prettier, so I set out to learn SEO and use it, otherwise I am making all of these recipes to never be found. Most importantly I also needed the blog to start generating a steady income.
Blogging is expensive. There is software, programs, groceries, I mean so many expenses and I need my blog to cover those and then help provide for my family. In addition to the blog I have a social media management company (I’m taking clients if you know anyone) and that covers my blog expenses. However, I have household bills that I have to pay too. So, my second goal was to reach over 25K monthly page sessions that I can start running ads on the website. Ads are how bloggers pay bills along with sponsored posts. We need them to continue.
For the past month I was so close to reaching the 25K, but it seemed so hard to reach. Over the weekend I finally did it! Woohoo! I applied for the ads and now I’m just waiting for my application to go through. This feels so good because I have worked soooo hard for it.
Along with that big accomplishment my best friend is moving to my neighborhood, so I feel there is reason to celebrate!
Since the last journal entry we had to move and unpack then settle in. We celebrated my birthday and my daughters birthday with some awesome big parties full of family and friends. The kids have started school and I am working non stop. It feels good to be next to our family again, but I won’t lie I miss Washington. It’s in my 5 year plan to buy something small up there and spend a few months there every year. The PNW will always hold a piece of my heart- it’s truly a special place.
The summer was SOOOO hot and its still bit warm here, but its cooling down to the low 80’s and upper 70’s. Having sunshine everyday is nice after not getting much of it for the past 3 years.
I’m getting ready for November which is one of busiest months of the year for events. I’m going to be in Portland, OR 11/3-11/4 for the Gluten Free Fest and San Mateo Nov. 17th and 18th. You can check out my events here.
Other than gearing up for the holiday recipes, travel, and working working the kids are excited about Halloween next week.
