Dairy Free Avocado Ranch Dressing

by Living Freely Gluten Free

Ranch had been a constant in my life. I can not remember one single time I did not enjoy a good home-made house style ranch dressing. The flavor of dill, buttermilk and all of the perfect seasonings combined adds the perfect amount of creamy flavor to any dish. Whether you like to top a salad or dip your chickens, fries and even pizza into it.

Lets just say that I miss that. I have been making my ranch for a while now because you just can’t beat the flavor and I personally like to choose what I put in my dressings. I went dairy free about 6 months ago and I will admit- I ate dairy in ranch once (or twice) ya, I got a stomach ache and I learned my lesson.

I am trying to eat a little bit lighter in these warm months and I over indulged a bit on Mexican food while in California. I felt so sluggish last week from my poor eating and lack of sleep. I am trying to get my energy back and incorporating more raw veggies has done the trick.

I wanted to make a dip that my kids would like. We all love avocados and ranch so I was sure this would be perfect for dinner.

It turned out delicious. I was fortunate enough to have some of these herbs fresh from garden so that is what I used by dry seasonings will work great as well if that is what you have on hand.
1 Avocado (medium sized or two small)
1/4 Cup Mayo
1 personal sized container or 1 cup of Plain Dairy Free Yogurt (I used So Delicious brand)
1/2 tsp. Avocado Oil
The juice of 1/2 a lemon
2 TBSP. chopped garlic
2 TBSP. Parsley
1 tsp. Dill
1/2 tsp. Onion Powder
1 Green Onion
1/2 tsp. Sea Salt (I use Pink Himalayan)
1/2 tsp. Pepper

3 TBSP. Non Dairy Milk (I used So Delicious Plain Unsweetened Coconut Milk)

In a food processor add all of the ingredients and pulse until all of the seasonings are combined and the dressing is creamy. If you like a really thick dressing then start with no Milk and then add as needed. I like a normal consistency and that is what I got with 3 Tbsp. It will thicken up a bit as it chills in the fridge. Serve immediately or allow to chill first. Enjoy on salad, veggies, crackers (My daughter loved it on GF crackers)
