Pressure Cooked Black Beans

Instead of buying canned beans I buy my beans in the bulk bins at WinCo. It is ridiculously cheaper than buying by the can and there are no nasty preservatives in them.

I make what I need when I need it and I use my Instant Pot . You can also use a crock pot or boil on the stove top, but I would recommend letting them soak overnight if you plan to cook them that way.

I like using these black beans as a side dish to go with tacos or in taco soup and chili. It is also healthier to make your own beans because you know what’s in them and they are fresh. Simply freeze the leftovers to add in your soups and chili. You can even make refried beans with them.

Ingredients:

3 cup of rinsed black beans

10 cups of filtered water

1 tsp. garlic salt

½ tsp. pepper

½ tsp. sea salt

Directions:

Place all ingredients in the Instant Pot and cook for 38 minutes. Allow it to sit and release some pressure on its own for about 15 minutes.

Freezing Black Beans:

Portion your beans into 2 cups portions and pour into freezer bags. 2 cups is like one can of beans. Pull out the morning you will need them and allow them to defrost.
