Claire's 1st Birthday Party

Claire's First Birthday Party
Gluten Free and Dairy Free Options

I thought I would a quick post to show how I threw my daughter's First birthday party. I truly love throwing parties and I miss it since we are so far from family now. Her second birthday is approaching quickly and I was flipping through pictures reminiscing on this fun party.

Little Miss Claire on her big day

I throw gluten free parties and sometimes there is some gluten there. We all have summer birthday's and in California that meant 90-100 degree weather so they always ended up being indoors. We have a huge family and bbq for 40-60 people is expensive.

I loved to get the meat and sandwich trays from Costco to serve lunch for the party. The pre-made sandwich trays are ideal for our gluten free home because there is no handling of the wheat and having to worry about people plopping their gluten free bread all over my kitchen while making a sandwich. I would buy a plain meat tray for the gluten free people and some Schar sandwich rolls and I would keep all of this in a separate part of the kitchen.

I made all of the signs myself with scrapbook paper, burlap string and sticker letters. I made the tissue paper tassels myself and hung them up all over the house for a super girly fun feel.

The kitchen island served as a buffet and "help yourself" area. I used dollar tree glass condiment bowls for any condiments people would want for their sandwiches to keep them from contaminating the condiment containers.

For side dishes I would make a huge potato salad and some family would bring sides to share (some with gluten and some without). My best friend makes an amazing pasta salad and uses GF noodles for it. My Grandma makes a delicious broccoli salad and it is always the first to go.

For dessert I made gluten free cupcakes and for Claire we have a GF smash cake with dairy free buttercream frosting. I also dipped marshmallows in chocolate and had some other gluten free desserts for guests to choose from. The dessert table served as the center piece of the party. I was really proud of it.

I used burlap string and painted clothespins along with the tissue paper pom pom's and hung pictures of her along the way for everyone to look it. To the left was the favor table with bubbles and paint kits.

I made this number one of pictures of her.

For centerpieces on the tables I placed a piece of burlap and used dollar jars filled with water and dollar marbles. I placed white carnations and pink roses in all of them

I use cheap plastic table cloths to just pull it off and put it straight in the trash. I clean all of the counter tops really well afterwards just to ensure there is no gluten left behind. It was such a fun day!
