Sloppy Joes From Scratch

In my early 20's, I used to buy the canned Manwich and make that for dinner. You know, back in those glutenous filled days. It was cheap, easy and my Hubby really liked them. I stopped making them when we went GF, even though I think that the can ingredients are safe. We just do our best to eat an organic, Non-GMO diet whenever possible. One day I decided to make it from scratch and it was a huge hit! It tastes great with beef or ground turkey.

My picky kids like this as well too. I usually serve it with French Fries or Roasted Red Potatoes.

1 TBSP. Avocado Oil

½ Onion diced

1 Carrot diced

1 TBSP. Chopped Garlic

1 Green Bell Pepper diced

1 Lb. Ground Beef or Ground Turkey


1 Cup Tomato Sauce

½ Cup Ketchup

¼ Cup Coconut Sugar

¼ tsp. Ground Mustard

2 TBSP. GF Tamari (Soy Sauce)

1 tsp. Ground Mustard

1 tsp. Garlic Powder

¼ tsp. Onion Powder

¼ tsp. Pink Himalayan Sea Salt

Pepper to taste


In a large skillet heat the oil. Sauté the onion, garlic, carrot and bell pepper for 4 minutes.
Add the meat and brown it.

While the meat is cooking add all of the sauce ingredients together and mix well.
Once the meat is cooked through, pour the sauce in the pan and reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Serve on a GF bun or just GF bread. Enjoy!
